La flecha de la nostalgia [Nostalgia Arrow] - 9th Bienal do Mercosul, 2013
Intrigued since childhood by the enigmatic robotic voice in charge of telling the Argentine people the time over the telephone, Bacal has decided to discover the owner of the Brazilian voice of the speaking clock, who, since the 1970s, has been serving Brazilians dialing 130. He found Eloí, a woman in her seventies whose unmistakable voice retains the same cadence immortalized by the original audio. But what happened to this woman? What has changed over the past three decades, not just in the life of Eloí, but also in the lives of all of us? Much more than the technical advances that may have led us to forget Eloí’s voice, time imprints deep marks, possibly a more accurate measure of the passage of years, months, hours, minutes, and seconds in our lives.
In the piece, the viewer would call the number 0800 000-0130 and would listen to Eloí's recording for Bacal.
